Practice Policies & Expectations

Bloodstone Therapy PLLC

Starting therapy is a meaningful step. In order to create a safe, respectful, and consistent therapeutic space, the following policies outline how I structure my practice. Full informed consent and financial agreements are provided for review and signature prior to beginning services.

Fees & Payment

  • Individual therapy: $120

  • Payment is due at the time of service.

  • Insurance may be accepted depending on plan participation.

  • Clients are responsible for understanding their insurance benefits, including copays, deductibles, and coinsurance.

If insurance denies or does not cover a service, the client remains responsible for payment.

Cancellation Policy

Your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you.

  • 24-hour notice is required for cancellations.

  • Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee.

  • One-time grace may be extended at the therapist’s discretion.

Insurance does not cover missed appointments.

Communication Boundaries

  • Secure portal messages and email may be used for scheduling or administrative matters.

  • Text messaging is not used for clinical communication.

  • Therapy sessions may not be recorded by either party.

  • This practice does not provide crisis or after-hours emergency services.

If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department.

Telehealth

Sessions may be conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. While telehealth offers flexibility and accessibility, it may involve risks such as technical disruptions or reduced non-verbal visibility. Telehealth may be discontinued if it is clinically inappropriate.

Confidentiality

Your privacy is important. Information shared in therapy is confidential and protected by law, with the following legal exceptions:

  • Risk of serious harm to self or others

  • Suspected child, elder, or vulnerable adult abuse or neglect

  • Court orders or other lawful requirements

A full Notice of Privacy Practices is provided before services begin.

Professional Boundaries

Therapy is a professional relationship. Dual relationships (social, financial, or personal relationships outside of therapy) are not permitted. If we encounter each other in public, I will not initiate contact in order to protect your privacy.

Ending Services

Clients may discontinue therapy at any time. In certain circumstances (including non-payment, repeated missed appointments, or if a higher level of care is needed), I may recommend referral to another provider to ensure appropriate care.

Full legal informed consent, financial responsibility agreements, and HIPAA privacy documentation are reviewed and signed through the secure client portal prior to the start of services.
